The Fourth of July
Sparklers, picnics, parades, watermelon, family, community, the smell of the BBQ and so much more illicit memories of celebrating the Fourth of July. It’s a cherished day symbolizing freedom and the continued hope for unity. There is no better place to celebrate the Independence Day than in Sonoma, California!
Social Gatherings
The Fourth of July activities in Sonoma provide a fantastic opportunity for our residents at Sonoma Hills Retirement Community to engage socially and develop a sense of belonging. The celebrations create a vibrant atmosphere where our residents can interact with neighbors, friends, and family. Many residents have lived through significant historical events or served in the military, making this day even more meaningful.
This Year’s Festivities
The Sonoma Valley Volunteer Firefighters Association is to thank again, for putting on the annual festivities. The day will kick off at 10 am with the annual parade beginning at Sonoma City Hall. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Sonoma’s Past, Present and Future.” The plan is to celebrate the community’s history, traditions, and heritage. The modern-day hopes to be represented by the diversity of today’s current achievements. Finally, the future is anyone’s guess but the parade will be full of performances and floats of what may come. Dancers, performers, vaqueros, marching bands and so many more will delight in the parade!
The afternoon will hold adventure too! Head over to the Sonoma Plaza for some toe-tapping music. Three different live bands are scheduled to keep the community lively with their talented musical prowess. The concert starts at 12:30 pm and will take us into the late afternoon.
Fireworks Show
The day will end with a crowd-pleasing fireworks show. Once the sky is significantly dark, usually around 9:30 pm, the sky will be lit with bursts of pop. Head over to the field beside General Vallejo’s Home to view the display.
We invite our residents, families, and visitors to engage with the community in celebrating our nation’s independence!
